PURPOSE:To allow the carrier to easily recognize the presence of a message and to allow the receiver to inform the presence of non-read information to the carrier by informing it that the information not read yet is in existence by a notice section when the carrier opens the cover of the receiver. CONSTITUTION:When a control section 3 collates a selective call number of an incoming signal with its own selective calling number and they are coincident, a notice section 5 makes a notice. When the carrier depresses a switch 6 while the notice is made, the notice is stopped and it is regarded that received information is all read. When the carrier does not depress the switch 6 during the notice, the presence of un-read reception information is stored in a memory 4. When the carrier opens a cover 8 of the case of the receiver to use a function of an electronic notebook and a detection section 7 detects the opening of the cover 8, the control section 3 discriminates the presence of the unread information. When the said information is in existence, the notice section 5 informs the presence of the unread information to the carrier.
