METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR INSPECTING FOREIGN MATTER IN VESSEL

PURPOSE:To enhance detection accuracy by discriminating between a foreign matter and a flaw of a vessel itself regardless of the magnitude of specific gravity of foreign matter present in the liquid filled in the vessel. CONSTITUTION:After being rotated through a vessel rotating means, a vessel is imaged by an imaging means 51. Image signals S1, S2 are binary encoded through a binary encoding circuit 52 and the binary encoded signal S3 is added through an adder circuit 53A to rotational direction signal and stored in a memory circuit 53. Data D stored at the memory circuit 53 is counted at a histogram generating section 54 thus generating a histogram. Thus generated histogram is compared, at a histogram comparing/processing section 55, with a predetermined reference value. Discrimination is then made between a flaw of the vessel itself and a foreign matter in the vessel based on the predetermined reference value thus determining acceptableness of the vessel.
