<p>PURPOSE:To effectively manufacture carriers having uniform diameter by mixing and kneading a slurry of magnetic powder and a consistency agent, extruding the resultant material from a nozzle having a very small bore, cutting it into particles, and sintering to yield spherical form. CONSTITUTION:In manufacturing carrier for electrostatic charge developing process using magnetic powder, 40-90 pts.wt. magnetic powder as major component and 10-60 pts.wt. water are mixed together to prepare a slurry of magnetic powder. Then 1-20 pts.wt. consistency agent is added to 100 pts.wt. such slurry followed by kneading, and the resultant is extruded into a thin wire from a nozzle having a bore between 30-150mum. This wire is severed into lengths approx. equal to the bore, and the produced particles are subjected to sintering process under the conditions that the temp. is between 1100-1400 deg.C and the duration is 0.5-3hr. This sintering rounds the particles to generate the spherical form. Polyvinyl alcohol as consistency agent in the slurry is removed at this stage.</p> |
