PURPOSE:To set the most suitable image forming condition while seizing its state in accordance with actual picture image formation by setting and controlling a desired picture image forming condition for an image forming means by way of computing and analyzing reflected light amount variation pattern information. CONSTITUTION:A CCD sensor 14 is driven with constant frequency, and in accordance with a picture image recording signal, an optical system 3K forms a patch 22a by way of visualizing a latent image formed on a sensitized drum 1 by a developer 4. When the optical image is projected on the CCD sensor 14, the CCD sensor 14 outputs voltage changed relating to density of the optical image. After the voltage from these various picture elements is linearly sequentially taken out and A/D conversion of eight bits is carried out, it is taken into a memory 100a. Thereafter, a central computing circuit 100 analyzes the contents of the memory 100a, detects Pmax, Pmin on a memory circuit, calculates a space transfer function in accordance with a specified expression, decides the most suitable picture image forming condition (transfer condition, exposure condition, gradation property, etc.) and completes processing. |
