PURPOSE:To provide the radio selective calling receiver with a display device in which old message seldom used or a confusing message is automatically excluded, an effective message is simply selected even in the case of message display and a message memory whose capacity is limited is effectively utilized. CONSTITUTION:The receiver is provided with a character symbol string memory 10 storing a specific character and symbol string and with a message memory 6 storing a received message, and also with a message collation means 8 and a message memory control means 9. The message collation means 8 discriminates whether or not a specific character and symbol string is included in a received message. Furthermore, the message memory control means 9 controls the storage of the message received in the message memory 6 based on the result of discrimination of the message collation means 8.
