A digital signal recording and reproduction method, comprising subdivision into a series of sectors and groups of sectors, whereafter each group is re-ordered in order to record the resulting group on successive inclined tracks on a magnetic tape, said re-ordering being such that the sectors are grouped on the tape (10) in such a way as to form virtual tracks (W1) extending physically along a line (L) which is perpendicular to the magnetic tape (10). Sections of the tape may then be cut and joined together again without disrupting the reading of the resulting tape. |
