The regulation system uses a regulator (20) comparing the actual oscillation amplitude of the seat with the stipulated oscillation amplitude range to increase or decrease the damping effect of the vibration damper (7) when the actual oscillation amplitude is above or below the acceptable range, respectively, as set by two thresholds. Pref. a sensor (9) detects the positive or negative peak oscillation amplitude relative to the oscillation centre, for providing the actual oscillation amplitude for the regulator, the output from the latter controlling a setting element for the damping effect.
