<p>Compounds which are derived from Eranthis hyemalis lectin by modification at the position of one or more cysteine residues retain the larvicidal activity of the parent compound yet lack the inhibition of protein synthesis of the parent compound. The modification can be reduction of the cysteine residues and noncovalent linkage of the resulting peptide chains, or substitution of other amino acids for one or more of the cysteine residues.</p> |
