A circuit for installation in a motor vehicle is designed to indicate the commencement of a deceleration to following vehicles as a result of the release of the accelerator pedal to the idling position by the driver of the leading vehicle. A spring-controlled limit switch (1) is mounted behind the accelerator pedal (6) and has a normally-closed contact (1) in the non-operated condition which is in series with a pair of rear-facing warning lights (2, 3) connected in parallel with a dashboard indicator (4). At all depressions of the pedal (6) the contact (1) is open and the lights (2, 3, 4) unlit. Release of the pedal (6) closes the contact (1) and the lights are energised by the battery (5). USE/ADVANTAGE - Gives prompt indication to following traffic of impending deceleration independently of footbrake warning lights. Dashboard indicator confirms operation of assumption that all lamps are in operable condition.
