<p>The method and apparatus of the invention effects compression of an analog signal (e.g., representing an interferogram) by means of a cubing circuit (22) which introduces into the analog signal a component that is a cubic function thereof, normally as a nonlinear negative signal in a feedback loop (25, 27, 29, 31) of an Op Amp (20). The compressed signal on line (21) will most desirably be digitized and then digitally decompressed so as to produce a signal that emulates the original.</p> |
