DEVICE AND METHOD FOR INSPECTION OF STATUS OF INSULATING LAYER

The device and method are used for inspection of the status of the integrity of the insulating layer separating the insulated object from the environment. There is placed at least one active electrode (2) on the outer and/or inner side of the insulating layer (1) and at least one sensing electrode (3) is placed close to the insulating layer (1). At least one active electrode (2) or at least one sensing electrode (3) can be respectively placed directly into the body of the insulating layer (1). The device is equipped with a source of electric power (4) that is accommodated for connecting of active electrodes (2). The active and sensing electrodes (2, 3) are connected with the recording and evaluating unit (5). The sensing electrodes measure and consequently record the values of an electric field artificially generated close to the insulating layer by connecting of active electrodes to the source of electric power and by measuring values of spontaneously arising electric power close to the insulating layer. The changes of the status regarding to the integrity of the insulating layer and location of its incidental rupture are consequently indicated or excluded through the evaluation of changes of mentioned physical parameters in relationship to the positions of single electrodes.
