A suitable fluid bed vessel (1) holds a water column (2) in which vibrators (9,10) oscillate the water. The lower fluid bed section (12) moves with respect to the upper section (13) and is connected to the vibrators. The vessel sits on the vibrators. The column of water in the vessel is partly or totally brought to and maintained in oscillation. The intensity of the oscillations is adjusted according to the state of the fluid bed. USE/ADVANTAGE - The process removes organic and other impurities. The cleaning performance is improved the volume of water required is reduced.
