PURPOSE:To execute printing by abstracting a picture pattern or changing it to a special expression by preparing and storing a blur mask signal consisting of a collection of a character, a graphic or a symbol, and subsequently, synthesizing a variable density signal from a picture pattern original with the blur mask signal, and exposing a film by a processed signal. CONSTITUTION:A dense signal is inputted to a control device 4 by installing an original 1 to a scanning part 2 of a scanner, and scanning it by a scanning head 3. A scanning spot corresponding to a streak of a character A, for instance, a dense signal from 8c is a dark signal, and since its adjacent scanning spots 7c, 9c have no streak at all, a signal from said spots is a light signal, but it is processed so that it becomes a signal whose density has been made slightly lower than the dark signal. This blur mask signal is stored in the control device 4. Subsequently, the scanning head 3 scans a picture pattern original 5 and generates a variable density signal, and in the control device 4, the variable density signal from the picture pattern original 5 is synthesized with the blur mask signal, processed, outputted to an optical modulator 8, an exposing head 9 scans a film 7, and in accordance with an output signal from the control device 4, the film 7 is exposed, and an image is formed. |
