PURPOSE:To make it possible to polarize beams, differing in wavelength, propagating in optical fiber, by combining an optically active body with a birefringent crystal plate. CONSTITUTION:From laser beams of lambda1 and lambda2 in wavelength having propagated through optical fiber, the same linear polarized components are extracted by polarizer 8 and then changed into linear polarized component beams, whose polarization surfaces cross at right angles each other, by crystal optically active body 9 selected with crystal thickness (l) given a rotation angle difference of 90 degrees. Those component beams of lambda1 and lambda2 in wavelength are caused to strike birefringent crystal plate 10 of calcspar, etc., with its optical axis 11 in parallel to the polarization surface of either one. As a result, one component beam travels straight and the other is refracted, so that laser beams of lambda1 and lambda2 in wavelength will be projected being separated with high precision. |
