<p>PURPOSE:To provide a new cyclohexanetriol derivative useful as an intermediate for 1alpha-hydroxyvitamin D derivatives. CONSTITUTION:The compound of the formula [R<1>-R<3> are each H or OH- protecting group; X is O, CHCH2OR4, CHCHO, or CHCO2R<5> (R<4> is H or OH- protecting group; R<5> is lower alkyl) ; Y is H; Z is OR<6> (R<6> is the same as R<4>); or, Y and Z are combined into single bond, X and Z into =N)-, =CHCH(OR<7>))-, or =CHCO2- (R<7> is H or lower alkyl)], e.g. 1,5,6,7,8,8a- hexahydro-6-methoxymethoxy-3-methoxy-3H-2-benzopyran-7,8-diol. The compound of the formula is useful as an A-ring constituent in synthesizing 1alpha- hydroxyvitamin D derivative bearing a substituent, esp. at 2-site, for example, being useful for synthesizing 2beta-hydroxypropoxy-1alpha, 25-dihydroxyvitamin D3 promising its clinical applications as a medicine for osteoporosis high in blood sustainability.</p> |
