PURPOSE: To obtain a solid having chemically bonded alkylmetal groups and suitable for purifying a liquid or gaseous material and cleaning a chemical reactor in which a material sensitive to air and/or water is brought into a reaction. CONSTITUTION: The solid consists essentially of an alkylmetal and a mechanically stable fine powdery porous carrier on which the metal atoms of the alkylmetal bond chemically to functional groups on the surface of the carrier.
