PURPOSE:To obtain lightweight parts for a rotary compressor excellent in chipping and wear resistance by using an Al2O3-TiC combined sintered compact contg. fine Al2O3 and TiC grains in a specified ratio. CONSTITUTION:A mixture of Al2O3 powder having about 0.1-0.4mum average particle diameter with TiC powder having about 0.2-0.8mum average particle diameter is sintered by hot pressing, hot isostatic pressing or other method to produce an Al2O3-TiC combined sintered compact contg. 70-90% by area of Al2O3 grains having <=1mum average grain diameter and 30-10% by area of TiC grains having <=1mum average grain diameter in a sectional area. Constituent parts (e.g. the rotor) of the rotary compressor of a refrigerator, etc., are produced by using the sintered compact. A sintering aid such as MgO or Y2O3 may be compounded in the mixture before sintering if necessary. |
