PURPOSE:To bring an expanded air bag without delay into press contact with the upper part of the body of a central seat occupant with no interference with a knee part placed on a tunnel part, at the time of actuating an air bag module for a central seat. CONSTITUTION:In an air bag device for an automobile formed by providing front seats 2, 3, capable of seating three persons of a driver A and two front seat fellow occupants B, C, behind an instrument panel 1 to equip an air bag module 5 for a driver's seat, air bag module 6 for a central seat and an air bag module 7 for an assistant driver's seat, the air bag module 6 for the central seat is offset to an assistant driver's seat side from a position, opposed to the central seat occupant B, and further arranged diagonally inward so that an expanding direction of the air bag module is directed to the central seat occupant B. |
