FERRULE AND METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR FITTING THE SAME

PURPOSE:To prevent a ferrule from breaking off from a branching port formed on a fluid pipe especially like a water pipe. CONSTITUTION:A hollow cylindrical fitting, with the upper and lower ends opened, comprises an inner cylinder 11 and an outer cylinder 12. The outer cylinder 12 includes a lower small-diameter cylinder part 12a slidably fitted to the outer periphery of the inner cylinder 11 and an upper large-diameter cylinder part 12b connected to the cylinder part 12a through an annular flange part 13 stretched outward from the upper end area of the small-diameter cylinder part. An annular projecting part 20 having a first inclined surface 21 which is provided on the outer periphery of the lower end area of the inner cylinder 11 and increased in the diameter downward and a second inclined surface 22 which is inclined upward from the upper end of the first inclined surface is formed on the inner cylinder. A circular taper ring 4 which is inclined in the substantially same direction as the second inclined surface and supporting the lower end of the annular projecting part 23 of a rubber ring 3 is disposed and fitted to the first inclined surface of the annular projecting part.
