REDUCING METHOD OF NITROGEN OXIDE IN GAS

PURPOSE:To decrease the cost for reduction treatment of nitrogen oxides in gas by using air as the reducing gas and supplying air as the reducing gas into the gas passage of a electric discharge device to produce radicals. CONSTITUTION:Air is used as the reducing gas for nitrogen oxides. The reducing gas Ga is supplied into the gas passage 2 of a surface discharge device 1 to cause electric discharge in the gas Ga. This produces radicals R of the reducing gas Ga. The radicals R are then introduced to a mixing reactor 12 and injected into gas G so that the radicals R react with nitrogen oxides and decompose nitrogen oxides into nitrogen gas N2. Since the device is simple and easily available air is used, this method is performed at a low cost. Especially, by using a surface discharge device, radicals can stably be produced.
