FRICTION MODIFIER FOR LUBRICATING OIL AND LUBRICATING OIL COMPOSITION CONTAINING THE SAME

PURPOSE:To obtain a friction modifier which can give a lubricating oil composition excellent in storage and oxidation stability and not undergoing phase separation even when it is present in a concentrated state in conjunction with other additives by using a specified compound. CONSTITUTION:This modifier comprises a compound of the formula wherein X is a 1-30C (un)saturated hydrocarbon group or an R3CO group [wherein R3 is a 1-30C (un)saturated hydrocarbon group]; R1 is R3; R2 is H or an (un)saturated hydrocarbon group; and (m) and (n) satisfy the relationship: 2<=m+n<=12. Desirably 0.1-3wt.% this modifier is added to a base oil to obtain a lubricating oil composition.
