PURPOSE:To efficiently extract an intracellular accumulation product a carotene compound, from a microoraganism. CONSTITUTION:A microorganism is cultured and separated. The cultured product is mixed with methanol and subsequently subjected to ax ultrasonic crushing treatment. The crushed cultured product is separated, recovered and subsequently extracted with a methylene chloride-methanol mixture solvent to give the carotene compound. The carotene compound can efficiently be extracted from the cultured product obtained by culturing the microorganism, and the method can be utilized for the production of the carotene compound by a fermentation production method. |
