PURPOSE:To obtain a detergent composition excellent in detergency and mild to the skin by mixing a specified polyoxyethylene alkyl ether acetate with a specified N-acylglutamate or a specified N-acylaspartate. CONSTITUTION:This composition comprises a polyoxyethylene alkyl ether acetate prepared by neutralizing a polyoxyethylene alkyl ether acetic acid of formula I (wherein R is 12-18C alkyl; and (n) is 2-10) with an alkali metal, ammonium or an alkanolamine to a degree of neutralization of 30-70%, and an N- acylglutamate of formula II (wherein R is 7-21C alkyl or alkenyl; and M1 and M2 are H, Na<+>, K<+>, NH4<+> or an alkanolammonium ion provided that they should not be hydrogen atoms at the same time) or an N-aspartate of formula III (wherein R' is R in formula II; and M3 and M4 are each M1 provided that they should not be hydrogen atoms at the same time). |
