PURPOSE: To improve ABS performance under lowμ-braking surface conditions. CONSTITUTION: In a vehicular ABS having an ABS valve whose pressure rise rate is variable, a vehicle reference speed is obtained in accordance with a maximum wheel speed and the vehicle reference speed is gradually reduced with a predetermined rate, when the wheel speed is larger than the vehicle reference speed, the vehicle reference speed is corrected and, further, the rise of the braking pressure is limited.
