PURPOSE:To obtain the subject product providing a recording ink which prints without running on ordinary paper and has excellent shelf stability by treating carbon black by electrical discharge under normal pressure and grafting a vinyl group-containing monomer by photopolymerization. CONSTITUTION:First, carbon black is treated by electrical discharge under normal pressure by a method such as glow discharge or corona discharge. Then, a vinyl group-containing monomer (preferably acrylamide) is subjected to graft polymerization on the carbon black subjected to electrical discharge. The polymerization reaction time is preferably 30 minutes to 6 hours. In order to raise disersibility of the carbon black in a hydrous ink-jet recording ink, the ratio of the carbon black/the vinyl group-containing monomer is regulated preferably to 10/1 to 10/100 by weight ratio. |
