PURPOSE:To obtain a silicon carbide based ceramic for which the quantity of incorparoted carbon or silicon is freely controllable by heat treating organic polysililenes or polycarbosilanes having a specific structure restricted in Si/C of structural component elements. CONSTITUTION:The organo-polysililenes or polycarbosilanes having <=1 atomic ratio of carbon to silicon in the structural component elements is heat treated with organic polymers or the organo-polysililenes or polycarbosilanes having >=1 atomic ratio of carbon to silicon of the structural component elements. For instant poly(methylsililen), poly(methyl sililine), etc., are exemplified as the compound having Si/C <=1. Poly(allysililene), poly(sililene-alkynylen), etc., are exemplified as the compound having Si/C>1. As the organo-polymers, for instant, polyallylene is exemplified. |
