PURPOSE:To obtain the highly water-absorbent cotton towel having an evaluation index of water absorption of a specific value or above by exceedingly improving the water absorptivity of the cotton towel. CONSTITUTION:After a woven cotton towel fabric is completely desized, the cotton towel fabric is immersed for 30 minutes or larger in a treating liquid prepd. by using an aq. soln. formed by a small amt. (0.2 to 3g/l) of a highly water-absorptive polymer in water kept at 80 to 90 deg.C as a treating liquid for water absorptive finishing, by that, the cotton towel fabric is subjected to the water absorptive finishing while the cotton fibers are wetted. A small amt. of the highly water-absorptive polymer is thereby deposited on the surfaces of the cotton fibers of the towel fabric and the highly water absorptive cotton towel having 800 or more evaluation index of water absorption is obtd. |
