PURPOSE:To prevent the turbulence of an image and the omission of output data by sensing accurately the remaining ink amount in an ink cartridge. CONSTITUTION:An ink cartridge 23 comprises an ink storage for storing ink and a print head 2b for jetting ink connected together by a stand piping section 3a and also a transparent component 6, at least a part perpendicular to the scanning direction of a carrier for scanning the mounting of the ink cartridge of the stand pipe section 3a and transmits the light. A remaining ink amount sensing means including a light emission element 4 and a light accepting element 5 forming a couple together is disposed opposite to the transparent component 6 outside a printing zone of the ink jet recording device. The remaining ink amount in the stand pipe section 3a can be sensed by the arrangement. |
