摘要 The measuring device transmits an acoustic signal via a sound measurement cavity (4) into the volume (1a) of the fuel tank (1) to be measured. A sound pressure sensor (10) detects the total acoustic signal P1 in the measuring cavity and feeds the signal to an amplifier. The measured values, or sequences of values are used to form a pattern vector which is classified and fed to a display (21), e.g. screen, printer or speech output device. The signals are pref. analysed in third-octave or octave bands. An unknown characteristic vector is weighted with a neural network and the vector assigned a volume class. USE/ADVANTAGE - For determining level of fuel in motor vehicle fuel tank. Allows measurement of differing tank shapes. Independent of level meters which may already be present.
