The rear section of the collecting container (1) is closed by a fixed lid and has a cover plate (10) to slidingly close the front section. This cover plate, in its rear position, is secured to the rear section of the container and is hinged to the front section of the container. The cover plate has a sideways protruding flange (11) to guide against the side walls of the container and another flange protruding downwards which engages in a slot in the fixed lid. The collecting container, covering plate and the fixed lid may all be made of zinc coated metal sheet. ADVANTAGE - The lid can be kept on the container at all times.
