In a bearing assembly comprising a number of bearing pads 20 supported by a housing 21, the contact between each pad and the housing is in the form of a curved line. The surface of each pad engaging the housing may be curved in two directions at right angles, the engaging surface of the housing closely matching the pad curvature in only one of those directions and differing from it in the other. In further embodiments, the pads are arranged to receive axial thrust. |
