PURPOSE: To easily remove a complex of LDL-C from whole blood effectively without the loss of other important elements of the whole blood, by fixing polyacrylic acid on the surface of a hollow fibrous membrane of microporous polysulfone having a uniform diameter in the membrane for connecting LDL-C. CONSTITUTION: Whole blood is drawn from an arm 10 with a device for drawing blood 14, and is pumped into a device for removing a complex of LDL-C 28 with a blood pump 18. The whole blood goes through the lumen of the hollow fibrous membrane of the device for removing a complex of LDL-C 28, and blood plasma flows through channels of microporous fibers and is separated from the cellular constituents of the blood. The membrane to connect the LDL-C is here made to be what the polyacrylic acid is fixed on the surface of the hollow fibrous membrane of microporous polysulfone having a uniform diameter. Then, silica, calcium chloride, or their combination is fixed on the surface of the hollow fibrous membrane, and the uniform diameter is made to be within a range of 0.4 to 0.65μ and the inner diameter of the hollow fiber is made to be approximately 150 to 400μ. |
