PURPOSE:To achieve a reduction in the cost by determining image forming conditions for an image reader by the use of the potential control value of the main body, thereby shortening wait time and reducing ROM capacity. CONSTITUTION:In the image reader 2 which can be attached to the main body device 1, the image of an original illuminated by an illuminating system 11 is transmitted through a window 10 and reflected to a lens system by a mirror 9, and the photosensitive body is exposed, so that a latent image according to this is formed. An amount of electrification of an electifier 4 is determined by a potential sensor 5 so that the prescribed potential for a photosensitive body dark part is obtained, and the photosensitive body 3 is uniformly electrified. Subsequently, a standard white plate is illuminated by the illuminating system 7 of the main body, and exposure for the original is determined while the potential of the photosensitive body is detected by the sensor 5 so that the prescribed potential for a photosensitive body light part is obtained. The potential of the light part, produced by the exposure, is detected by the sensor 5, and development-bias conditions for a developing device 6 is determined based on this potential. Thus, the simple setting of conditions for image formation can be achieved. |
