PURPOSE:To provide an optical head unit suitable for high speed rotation in which the tape can be downsized while facilitating assemblage, regulation, and control by constituting a scanning head of an optical head comprising a scanning control means, a rotary mirror, and an objective lens. CONSTITUTION:A scanning head for scanning the surface of a recording medium 2 with a scanning spot P is constituted of an optical head comprising a scanning control means, a rotary mirror HM, an objective lens 7, and the like. A rotary mirror M1, the objective lens 7, and a holding member constitute a rotary system. Laser beam from a semiconductor laser LD passes through a collimator lens CL to produce a substantially parallel beam which is subsequently condensed to be focused at position K. Subsequently, the beam passes through the objective lens 7 and forms a scanning spont on the recording medium 2 thus scanning the medium 2 obliquely as the medium 2 is being fed. This constitution obviates the necessity of making thick the tape in order to ensure strength thus realizing a downsized tape. |
