PURPOSE:To eliminate the deformation or damage of a heat resistant belt which occurs when it is pinched with a recording material between the outer peripheral surface of an elastic rotating body and a heating body only when the recording material is fed. CONSTITUTION:When the leading edge of the recording material 16 is detected, a cam 204 is rotated to move a rocking arm 203 downward, so that the heating body 12 integrated with a movable block 208 and a film guide 202 are lowered to press-contact with a pressure roller 17. The recording material 16 receives pinching force at a fixing nip part N and passes there. When the material 6 passes through paper ejecting rollers 51 and 52 and is perfectly ejected from a fixing device, the cam 204 is rotated clockwise to raise the arm 203 and move the block 208 upward, and the heating body 12 is separated from the roller 17 to release pressuring. Therefore, pressure and heat are prevented form being applied to an endless belt-like fixing film 9 at all times, and fatigue and deformation are prevented. |
