<p>PURPOSE:To provide resin for toner consisting of a high-mol.wt. polymer component and a low-mol.wt. polymer component, without lowering of the mol.wt., excellent in offset resistance over a wide temp. range and having good fixability and blocking resistance. CONSTITUTION:150kg of toluene, 75kg of a styrene-acrylic ester copolymer having 600,000 weight average mol.wt. and 125kg of a styrene-acrylic ester copolymer having 15,000 weight average mol.wt. are charged into a 500-liter reaction vessel 10, and the mixture is heated to the b.p. of toluene and agitated to prepare a resin soln. The soln. in the vessel is then agitated and heated to 200 deg.C, a vacuum pump 30 is operated while closing valves A, B and C, the valve C is opened when the liq. level ascends below a peep hole 12, and gaseous nitrogen is introduced into the vessel from a pipeline 13 to purge the vessel in one step. When the liq. level lowers, the valve C is closed. Purging is repeated 40 times to distil off the toluene, and a desired resin is obtained.</p> |
