PURPOSE:To provide an excellent photographed image without out-of-focus from the starting time of zooming regardless of the depth of a field. CONSTITUTION:A photographing lens 102 provided with a zooming function, an image pickup element 106 which photoelectrically converts a formed object image and outputs an image pickup signal, a focus lens 105 focusing the lens 102 based on a signal which is detected from the image pickup signal and which corresponds to a focus state, a first detection means 115 detecting the depth of the field, a second detection means 115 detecting the moving position of the lens 105, an arithmetic means deciding a moving range which can be regarded as the focusing of the lens 105 based on the outputs of the first and the second detection means 115 and a control means 119 starting the movement of the lens 102 after moving the lens 105 to a specified position within the calculated moving range or near it are provided. |
