The optical fibre handling tool includes a V-shaped section with two limbs (3,4) and a central point with a small flat surface. The central point is applied to the surface of a fibre which has a specific coating (8) eg of metal or thermoplastics.The temperature of the point is lowered, freezing the coating and adhering the fibre to the tool.The fibre is manipulated as required, and may then be released again by raising the temperature of the handling tool.
