PURPOSE:To automatically start a terminal which needs to read a program required to realize a self function from a host at the time of starting without troubling an operator and without confusing a real system even if the operation of the host s tops. CONSTITUTION:The logical address of a self terminal, the logical address of the host having the necessary program at the time of starting the terminal and the name of the program are stored in a diskless terminal. When the terminal is to be started, the arbitrary host is selected among the plural hosts by using the logical address of the host or the name of the program. The transfer request of the program is given to the selected host, and the transfer request of the program is sequentially given to the hosts until the necessary program is read into the self terminal. Since the host having the program which one requires is specified and the program transfer request is given even if the arbitrary number of the hosts are in trouble among the plural hosts, the load of a system is made to a minimum and the terminal can automatically be started.
