PURPOSE:To improve various characteristics of battery, particularly, oxygen gas absorbing characteristic by containing a hydrogen storage alloy particle having a large particle size in hydrogen alloy particles of an electrode in which a conductive core body and the alloy particle, and the alloy particles are mutually fixed by a binder, respectively. CONSTITUTION:A hydrogen storage alloy 2 having a large particle size and a hydrogen storage alloy 1 having a small particle size are mixed together in a mixing ratio of 5:95, and a water-soluble polymer is added thereto as a binder 3 followed by kneading to prepare a paste. The paste is applied to both surfaces of a collector body consisting of a punched metal followed by drying to form a hydrogen storage alloy electrode. Since the film thickness of the binder adhered to the surface of the particle the large particle size is thinner than that in the one having the small particle size, the binder is dissolved by an electrolyte when this electrode is used for a battery, and the thinned part is easily exposed. Thus, binder removing effect is more remarkably exhibited, and various characteristics of battery, particularly, oxygen gas absorbing characteristic is improved. |
