<p>PURPOSE: To switch packet data quickly by connecting m-inputs to p-packet buffers cyclicly with an input rotation device and allowing an output rotation device to connect the p-packet buffers to n-outputs cyclicly so that an i-th output is connected to an i-th location of the p-packet buffers. CONSTITUTION: Packets arrived at inputs 10 are set arranged in a queue of one FIFO. An output of the FIFO is connected to a specific packet buffer 18 via an input rotation device 20. The buffer 18 checks a destination address in a header of the packet reached from an input buffer 14 through the input rotation device 20 to insert the packet to an instructed space. That is, the input rotation device connects m-inputs to the p-packet buffers 18 cyclicly, and an output rotation device connects cyclicly the p-packet buffers 18 to n- outputs so that an i-th output is connected to an i-th position of the p-packet buffers 18. Thus, packet data are quickly switched.</p> |
