An awning which can be opened or closed by operating arms and can be wound on to a shaft has a protective covering fitted on to a wall. The top of the covering has a space to hold lamps (and tubular lamps in particular) with an opaque profiled cover round it; alternatively this is moulded as one piece of the covering; this cover has a window underneath for the interior space holding the winding shaft. The window is preferably, e.g., acrylic. ADVANTAGE - The design illuminates the front frill of the awning even when it is retracted and wound on its shaft out of sight. (1/10)
