<p>In the redn. of noxious emissions from a heavy oil-fired furnace by using a nozzle to spray an aq. additive soln. into the furnace, the novelty is that the soln. is cooled to below 15 deg.C in a refrigeration unit before supply to the nozzle. The additive is pref. urea. Appts. for carrying out the above process is also claimed. USE/ADVANTAGE - For reducing e.g., boiler furnace emissions. Cooling of the soln. delays evapn. so that small soln. droplets can contact the entire flue gas cross-section to improve redn. of emissions, allows a stationary nozzle to be used and provides nozzle cooling to avoid thermal damage.</p> |
