A drive unit (3) and a connection/sepn. device are introduced in a working connection between the gear selector lever (21) and an actuating slide-valve (50). This connection consists of a control arm (22) and rod (23), a lever (24) rotating the actuating shaft (15), a latching lever (26) and another rod (27). For changes between positions with the vehicle at rest, the drive unit is deactivated so that the selector lever acts directly on the valve. ADVANTAGE - Simple and smooth gear changes can be made manually with the drive unit isolated, without requiring any increase in bulk of the appts.
