The clamping device may be used for roller shutters used to close a door or other opening in a building. It incorporates two elongated bars (20) which may trap the edge of the roller blind assembly (14) between them. The roller blind may consists of armoured strips (16) hinged together and wound up on a large dia. reel(16). There may be several blinds (14) each with its own pair of edge clamping elements (20) each with a facing (21) adapted to grip the blind material.
