The object (1) coating, e.g. a paint (2) or foil film (2'), is applied in at least one step to the object surface (23) and then subjected to after-treatment. During the latter, the objects are moved forward at constant speed and the wetted etc. surface is exposed to air jets (14.1-n; 15.1-n). The jets are formed by slit nozzles and are directed transversely to the transport direction (F). They impinge on a narrow, strip-shaped region of the object surface. The air jets distribute the paint etc. compress it, and remove excess. In case of foil coating, the jets provide compressive clinging. USE/ADVANTAGE - Simple process for prodn. of high quality coating on object.
