The upper guide (10) is a hollow rod open along its underside which faces the upper cutter blade (8). The hollow space (13) extends the full length of the guide rod with a uniform cross section, and provides a seating for the heads (16) of the bolts (14, 16) which secure the two cutter blades (8, 9). The bolt heads are saw toothed on the underside to provide a grip against the edges of the light metal guide rod (10). The trimmer blades (8, 9) are held between the guide rod (10) and a spring steel rod (11). The guide rod is of extruded aluminium with rounded top surface, and the steel rod (11) has projections at intervals along its length which press against the top guide rod.
