<p>Tufting base fabric (support) in which the yarns which will form the wear surface of a tufted carpet are attached by tufting, characterised in that it consists of a woven fabric, which is not desized (de-oiled) and is virtually undeformable under the normal conditions of use, and consists of glass yarns impregnated with a polymer material, so as to embed a large number of filaments constituting each glass yarn and, thereafter, to limit substantially, during the tufting, direct contacts between, on the one hand, the yarns forming the woven glass fabric and, on the other hand, the needles of the tufting machine and the yarns used for producing the wear surface.
