A polypeptide posssessing a human ADF activity is used for producing a composition for the treatment of pancreatitis. It may be expected to be clinically applicable as a treatment for acute pancreatitis, infectious pancreatitis, the acute advanced stage of chronic recurrent pancreatitis and acute pancreatitis following surgical therapy, as well as a wide variety of diseases which accompany pancreatic disorders, such as multiple organ failure which accompanies acute pancreatitis, etc.
