A method and apparatus for developing a film to produce a digital image by scanning an image on the film as it develops and creating a digital representation of the image on the film. In an apparatus and method adapted for use with colour films, the film is scanned with reflected light from both sides of the film and also by transmitted light. <IMAGE>
